ABOUT

The St. Vivekanand Sr. Sec. School were born out of the ideology that children must be given an environment that makes them want to come to school every day. The schools, which were founded in 1991 by Mrs. Kamal Rai, follow her personal principle of promoting individuality through value-based education which promotes a global outlook yet retains intrinsic Indian cultural traditions. Her guidance has also led The St. Vivekanand Sr. Sec. School to lay a great emphasis on inclusiveness.
St. Vivekanand Sr. Sec. School believes in inspiring the students to become successful and responsible citizens. The curriculum is delivered through an innovative combination of classroom and activity-led learning. It is our mission to blend strong cultural fundamentals of the Gurukul Heritage and other traditional systems with advanced modern learning tools, thus providing a new direction in education. We not only believe in imparting mere education, but also imbibe in spiritual learning.
Namaskar is the integral part of our routine. The word ‘Namaskar’ is derived from the root ‘namaha’, which means paying obeisance (derive spiritual as well as worldly Namaskar) or salutation. From Science of Justice – ‘Namaha’ is a physical action expressing that ‘you are superior to me in all qualities and in every way’.The main objective of doing Namaskar to someone is to benefits.
This tradition is followed in our school to greet each other. At SVSSS, our morning start with chanting of the Gayatri Mantra, which is said to purify us & increase our wisdom, spiritual growth and development. After chanting of the Gayatri Mantra, students come out of their classes for health run. The studies have shown the health benefits of the running that reduces the chances of common cold to the fatal cancer. It helps them to improve their fitness and stamina. It also increases their bone density and considered to be best aerobic exercise for physical conditioning of the heart and lungs. Health run is followed by meditation with 'OM' gunjan.
Students sit in meditation to concentrate the mind in a spiritual ideal, to be one with it and the thought process dissolving in the consciousness of it, which helps them to improve in three fields i.e. Pratyahara or withdrawl of the mind from the outer objects or attention to their memory, Dharana- patience and Dhyana i.e. concentration. Meditation helps to inculcate the power of concentration in students, which helps them to learn things faster and more vividly.
At lunch break, the students chant Bhojan Mantra,"Om Brahmarpanam Brahavi-Brahmgano Brahmnahutam Brahov Ten Gantavayam Bramkaram Samadhina" which is played on School's PAS. According to the Hindu way of life, food goes beyond just a means of body nourishment. It is also believed to influence our mental and spiritual development. This mantra gives the scientific explanation of the relationship between food and energy.
Thus the school is marching ahead with its aim to make the students the ideal citizens of India like Swami Vivekanand - physically strong, mentally balanced and spiritually enlightened.

With a chequered history of 21 years of glorious struggle and strife behind it, today St. Vivekanand Sr. Sec. School stands tall and proud with its feet firmly embedded in the bedrock of the eternal values and inspiring sacrifices of great soul- Swami Vivekanand .
